In art class, Purchase School learned about Zentangling.  Zen means peace and calm, and tangle means patterns.   Zentangle is about drawing in peace, to make you calm and relaxed.  You want to feel no stress when you are zentangling, it is supposed to be stress-relieving.  When you are zentangling there is no such thing as making a mistake; there is no wrong or right.  When you are zentangling there are lots of patterns and designs in your work.  In the art of zentangle, you draw anything you want, there is nothing that you are told to do.  It is about free drawing and making whatever you feel like you want to do.
There are no instructions to make it perfect, it is all about creativity.
SIMPLE STEPS: If you are using a tracing figure, trace your figure on the white paper -- but if you’re not, just make a small square border (it does not have be perfect).  Once  you’ve made your border, you make lines going from both ends of the square border (doesn’t have to be straight).  Next, you start in one box and make a pattern.  If you made a straighter pattern you might want to make rounder lines in the next box.  Then you keep going to each box and if you mess up you can fix it because there’s no wrong or right. That's what Zentangle is all about.  - Michael S., Sara L., Alexandra W., 4C

Zentangle is a type of art that makes you feel relaxed.  Zentangle includes making parts and sections upon the paper.   All the pieces on the paper should be filled with fun designs of your choice. Some designs you could do are checker boards, dots, swirls, suns, peace signs, and lightning bolts. Zentangle is very popular in Purchase school because it is fun to do , relaxes you and it is inspiring to others.   - Lilly S. & Natasha S., 4D
